We have awarded over $100,000 in annual scholarships to beverage professionals worldwide over the past 15+ years. Here is a rundown of the scholarship opportunities that have been made available through SommFoundation.

  •  Chaîne des Rôtisseurs Sommelier Scholarship

    • With nearly 21,000 members, the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs is an International Association of Gastronomy now established in over 75 countries bringing together enthusiasts who share the same values of quality, fine dining, the encouragement of the culinary arts and the pleasures of the table. The distinctive character of our association is to bring together amateurs and professionals, from all over the world, whether they are hoteliers, restaurateurs, executive chefs or sommeliers, in the appreciation of fine cuisine.

    • Scholarship Amount: $1000

  • Foley Family Women in Wine Scholarship

    • Established by Bill Foley in 1996, Foley Family Wines & Spirits (FFWS) is a portfolio of highly acclaimed wines and spirits from some of the world’s greatest estates. The company owns more than 25 wineries and distilleries, each with its distinct style, legacy, and approach to hospitality. This scholarship is for women that are currently enrolled in an accredited College or University and pursuing studies in the fields of viticulture, enology/winemaking, wine business/marketing, and/or sommelier.

    • Scholarship Amount: $2500

  • Court of Master Sommeliers of America CMS Certified Exam Scholarship

    • Scholarship Amount: $500

  • Wine Country Women Scholarship

    • Wine Country Women, LLC is a national organization that is a woman-owned luxury lifestyle and entertainment brand providing opportunities to meet the extraordinary women who inspire us in wine country through lifestyle books, broadcast media, signature events, and more.

    • Scholarship Amount: $1500

  • Mel Dick Scholarship

    • This scholarship is awarded to the person with the highest score at each of the Court of Master Sommeliers-Americas Certified Exams throughout the year.

    • Scholarship Amount: $500

  • Joey Zapata Memorial Scholarship

    • This scholarship is to honor Joey who, despite personal challenges, had the tenacity to pursue his dreams. In order to allow others to follow their dreams, this scholarship is to assist with expenses related to the Court of Master Sommeliers - Americas Advanced Exam.

    • Scholarship Amount: $1398

  • Texas Wine School Scholarship

    • Founded in 2010, The Texas Wine School’s mission is to grow Texas’s wine community through education. They are now the US South’s largest wine education center and only WSET Diploma center. Since 2019, they have been a 501c3 nonprofit providing classes to both consumers and industry professionals at every level and supporting local tasting groups.

  • Assemblage Wine Scholarship for Aspiring Sommeliers

    • This scholarship is to assist individuals looking to get started with a career in the wine industry.  The funds are to assist with expenses related to the Court of Master Sommeliers Introductory Course, WSET Level 1 or 2 in Wines and similar level courses/exams.

    • Scholarship Amount: $800

  • Napa Valley Wine Academy Scholarships

    • Napa Valley Wine Academy is America’s Premier Wine School™ and the two-time winner of the WSET Global Wine Educator of the Year (2016 and 2019) making it the most awarded WSET wine school in the world.

    • Scholarship Amount: $615 - $1657

  • Les Dames d'Escoffier, Dallas Chapter Scholarship in Wine Studies

    • Les Dames d’Escoffier is an international organization made up of women leaders in the food, fine beverage and hospitality fields. This scholarship is to be used to assist with expenses related to the WSET Level 4 Diploma in Wines, The Institute of Masters of Wine, Master of Wine Exam (stage 2) or the Court of Master Sommeliers Master Sommelier Exam

    • Scholarship Amount: $1000

  • Women's Wine Guild of Colorado - Women Empowerment Scholarship

    • The Women's Wine Guild of Colorado is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit group dedicated to creating an inclusive, education-based environment where women in the Colorado Food, Wine and Hospitality industries can flourish and grow. This scholarship is to be used to assist with expenses related to the WSET Level 1 or 2 in Wine, the Court of Master Sommeliers Introductory or Certified Exam or the Society of Wine Educators Certified Specialist of Wine Exam. 

    • Scholarship Amount: $1000

  • Rudd Foundation - Rudd Round Table Scholarship

    • The Rudd Round Table was established in 2009 by the Rudd Foundation and SommFoundation to help prepare elite candidates for the Court of Master Sommeliers Master’s Exam. This scholarship is awarded to the three people with the highest scores at the Court of Master Sommeliers Advanced Exam each year.

    • Scholarship Amount: $5000

  • SommFoundation Master of Wine Scholarship

    • This scholarship is to assist with expenses related to the Masters of Wine Program, Stage 2.

    • Scholarship Amount: $3000

  • Santa Margherita USA General Education Scholarship

    • Established in 2014, Santa Margherita USA is a fine wine import company representing premium and ultra-premium wine estates.

    • Scholarship Amount: $1000

  • SommFoundation Diversity Scholarship for Black, Indigenous, Asian and Latinx Wine Professionals

    • Scholarship Amount: $1000

  • CMS BIPOC Scholarship

    • SommFoundation and Black Wine Professionals partnered to award these scholarships to address the exclusive gated-access to sommelier and wine industry jobs in the beverage industry.

    • Scholarship Amount: $5000

  • Ste. Michelle Wine Estates & SommFoundation General Education Scholarship

    • Ste. Michelle Wine Estates has been a long-standing sponsor of SommFoundation programs for nearly a decade.  They are deeply committed to giving back to the wine community and helping professionals achieve their potential.

    • Scholarship Amount: $500

  • Cooper's Hawk Scholarship for BIPOC American Wine Professionals

    • Founded in 2005, Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurants is built upon the belief that food and wine hold the power to forge lasting connections. This scholarship is to assist BIPOC Americans who are passionate about pursuing a career in the wine industry.

    • Scholarship Amount: $1000

  • Treasury Wine Estates Advanced Exam Scholarship for Canadians

    • Working with their Canadian distributor, Mark Anthony Wine & Spirits, they have established a scholarship for Court of Master Sommeliers Advanced exam candidates who live and work in Canada. Scholarship awards are meant to support wine professionals by defraying the cost of travel and exam fees, while allowing recipients to connect with the wider community.

    • Scholarship Amount: $1350

  • Debbie Lewis Women in Wine Scholarship

    • Debbie was the rock of her family and provided the steady hand that built Lewis Cellars.  She was involved in every aspect of vineyard management, winemaking, sales, distribution, and she spent many days on the road, building relationships all over the country. This scholarship is to assist with expenses related to upper-level professional wine studies.

    • Scholarship Amount: $5000

  • Dan Gulbronsen Memorial Scholarship

    • As a founding member of the Guild of Sommeliers Education Foundation, Dan was an Old World aficionado with a New World appreciation. This scholarship is to assist with expenses related to the Court of Master Sommeliers Advanced Course, The Society of Wine Certified Wine Educator Exam, or the WSET Level 3 Award in Wines.

    • Scholarship Amount: $2000

  • Laurent-Perrier Women in Wine Leadership Scholarship

    • Champagne Laurent-Perrier, established in 1812 and now the largest female and family-owned House, has a long tradition of cutting edge innovation in the region and can be credited with many of the ideas that have defined Champagne production. This scholarship is to support future leaders in the wine industry.  Scholarship funds are to assist with expenses related to wine education and certification.

    • Scholarship Amount: $2000

  • Jackson Family Wines CMS Master Sommelier Exam & IMW Master of Wine Exam Scholarship for Canadians

    • Jackson Family Wines is a family-owned and operated company based out of Sonoma, California. They value community involvement, environmental stewardship and sustainability, while focusing on crafting artisanal wines. This scholarship applies to students sitting for the Institute of Masters of Wine, Master of Wine Exam, Stage 2 or the Court of Master Sommeliers Master Exam.

    • Scholarship Amount: $2000

  • David A. Carpenter Master of Wine Scholarship

    • This MW scholarship is sponsored by David and Diane Carpenter. The Carpenters strongly support the mission of SommFoundation. Their wish is to collaborate with a wide range of wine organizations, ensuring that we are inclusive of all wine professionals who seek to further their knowledge and passion for wine.

    • Scholarship Amount: $2500

  • Charlie Palmer's Pigs & Pinot CMS Introductory Course/Exam Scholarship

    • This scholarship covers the Court of Master Sommeliers Introductory Course/Exam.

    • Scholarship Amount: $700

  • Wilson Daniels Master of Wine & Master Sommelier Exam Scholarship

    • Founded in 1978, Wilson Daniels is a fully integrated, family-owned marketing and sales company representing a highly selective portfolio of the world’s most distinctive wines. This scholarship applies to Institute of Masters of Wine, MW Stage 2 candidates and the Court of Master Sommeliers Master Sommelier Exam candidates sitting for any part of the exam (theory, practical and tasting).

    • Scholarship Amount: $2000

  • Sonoma-Cutrer Scholarship for CMS Certified Exam, Advanced Course, and Advanced Exam

    • Over the past 40 years, Sonoma-Cutrer has earned a reputation of excellence in craftsmanship by steadfastly choosing quality over quantity.

    • Scholarship Amount: $649 - $1699

  • Corkbuzz Scholarship for Women

    • Corkbuzz Wine Studio was founded in 2011 by Master Sommelier, Laura Maniec, Fiorvanti. We are part wine bar/restaurant, wine educational facility and special events space. We believe wine should be inclusive and not intimidating and we strive to be an employer who mentors the next generation of sommeliers and wine professionals.

    • Scholarship Amount: $1195

  • Unger Advanced Sommelier Exam Scholarship

    • Scholarship Amount: $1000

  • CMS International Advanced Course & Exam Scholarship

    • Scholarship Amount: $1500

  • Bonaccorsi Master Sommelier Exam Scholarship

    • Scholarship Amount: $2000
